World Turning is a studio album orchestrated by banjo player Tony Trischka. Genres vary wildly as do performers for each track. The title track of the album is a cover version of "World Turning", a song by Fleetwood Mac.
This album, a history (of sorts) of the banjo in America (with a nod to it's African roots), features Farm Report (with Horsefly Richie Stearns), and collaborations with the Violent Femmes, Bill Berry and Peter Buck of REM, Syd Straw, William S. Burroughs, Matt Glaser, David Grisman, Van Dyke Parks, Alison Krauss and Dudley Connell.

Trishka's claim to fame, supposedly, is that he taught banjo to Bela Fleck. Fleck, oddly enough, is conspicuous by his absence on this guest-heavy release which features appearances by Alison Krauss, Syd Straw, all three Violent Femmes, members of R.E.M., and William S. Burroughs.
