Ikrima ibn Amr ibn Hisham ( Arabic: عكرمة بن عمرو بن هشام, romanized : ʿIkrima ibn ʿAmr ibn Hishām; c. 598 –634 or 636) was an opponent-turned companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and a military commander in the Ridda wars and the Muslim conquest of Syria. In the latter campaign, he was killed fighting the Byzantine forces. Life.
The son of Abu Jahl fought the Prophet ﷺ for years, but ultimately became one of the Prophet ﷺ’s companions and left a legacy of selflessness and martyrdom.
