Boyce College, a Christian college in Louisville, Kentucky, derives its name from James P. Boyce, founder and first president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition to being a Southern Baptist statesman, Boyce sought to innovate the world of theological education by making it more convictional, rigorous, and accessible.
Boyce College is the successor of Boyce Bible School, which was formed in 1974 and offered an associate of arts degree. It is named for James Petigru Boyce, the first president of Southern Seminary.

The roots of Boyce College date back to 1974, when Southern Seminary launched the Boyce Bible School as a non-degree granting undergraduate program in ministerial training for pastors (primarily professional adults) without college prerequisites such as high school.
