On 16 November 2017, it was announced that Mark Jackson, who had participated as live drummer at concerts since the mid-1990s, had left VNV Nation. Their tenth studio album, Noire, was released on 12 October 2018 as a digital album in all markets, and as a physical CD in non-American markets via Anachron Records.

Empires is the third studio album by the alternative electronic band VNV Nation. It was released in 1999 in the EU and 2000 in the United States jointly under the Metropolis and Dependent labels. The album combines trance, synthpop, and electronic body music (EBM).
Im November 2017 verließ Schlagzeuger Mark Jackson die Band, sodass VNV Nation nunmehr ein Solo-Projekt von Ronan Harris ist, der nur live von weiteren Musikern unterstützt wird. 2018 erschien das Album Noire.
