Stephen Andrew Perkins (born September 13, 1967) is an American musician and songwriter. A drummer and percussionist, he currently plays with Jane's Addiction, Porno for Pyros and Hellride .
The band consists of vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery. Jane's Addiction was one of the first bands from the early 1990s alternative rock movement to gain both mainstream media attention and commercial success in the United States.
21 de oct. de 2011 · For Perkins, guitarist Navarro and singer Perry Farrell, "not always easy" has been the order of the day for most of Jane's Addiction's on-and-off, 26-year history. After releasing two hands-down classics, 1988's Nothing's Shocking and 1990's Ritual De Lo Habitual, the band sputtered to a messy, drug-fueled breakup in 1991.

Following the demise of the critically and commercially successful Jane's Addiction, frontman Perry Farrell and drummer Stephen Perkins formed Porno for Pyros after acquiring guitarist Peter DiStefano and bass player Martyn LeNoble. Farrell named the band after seeing an ad for fireworks in a pornographic magazine.

Glam-metal was cresting, but the music they made was a world away from that scene’s hairspray-choked frothiness. Farrell and his bandmates didn’t just walk on the darker side of life, they also lived it.
