Michael David Watt (born December 20, 1957) [1] is an American bassist, vocalist and songwriter. He co-founded and played bass guitar for the rock bands Minutemen (1980–1985), Dos (1985–present), and Firehose (1986–1994).

And Watt agrees that the little-song format—boiling a song down to small parts—is similar. But out of respect for his old friend, he didn’t want it to be too much like Minutemen.
You have said before too, a lot of the troubles and the commoditizing comes from this kind of ancient, and archaic, outdated concern for genre, of trying to sound like something you ain’t. Yeah, it’s commerce.
