Tim Gallegos, born in 1960 in California, was a former bassist of L.A.'s Wasted Youth. He joined Bad Religion in January or February 1984 after Greg Graffin decided to resurrect the band. Together with Greg Graffin, Pete Finestone and Greg Hetson, Tim recorded the Back To The Known EP in 1985.

Bad Religion briefly broke up in 1984, as Gurewitz left the band to focus on his record label Epitaph Records and recording studio Westbeach Recorders, before returning with guitarist Greg Hetson, bassist Tim Gallegos and drummer Finestone for the 1985 EP Back to the Known.

At that time, it was Greg Hetson who contacted Greg Graffin to convince him to reform Bad Religion again. Greg Hetson became the new guitarist as the Circle Jerks were taking a year off. Together with Pete Finestone, who had returned from England, and Tim Gallegos – from Wasted Youth – the band started playing shows again.
