Starting with his next album, Still Got the Blues, he primarily played blues. Although Cozy Powell played drums on the album, he was replaced by Chris Slade for the tour, as he was set to tour with Black Sabbath, in support of the album, Headless Cross, on which he also played drums.

Cozy Powell (born Colin Trevor Flooks; 29 December 1947 – 5 April 1998) was an English drummer who made his name with major rock bands and artists such as The Jeff Beck Group, Rainbow, Michael Schenker Group, Gary Moore, Graham Bonnet, Brian May, Whitesnake, Emerson, Lake & Powell, and Black Sabbath.. Powell appeared on at least 66 albums, with contributions on many other recordings.
5 de abr. de 2024 · The driver – Cozy Powell – died that same night of his injuries in hospital. Next morning, the papers revealed that the life of Powell, a rock drumming superstar for 30 years, had ended abruptly and without warning.
Al igual que Run for Cover de 1985, Gary invitó a varios músicos para colaborar en cada una de las pistas como Ozzy Osbourne, Cozy Powell y Don Airey, entre otros. Cabe mencionar que la canción «Bloods of Emeralds» es un tributo a su amigo y colega Phil Lynott.
19 de dic. de 2022 · 1989 saw the release of Gary Moore’s After The War, featuring Cozy. A wonderful rock album it was Gary’s last straight rock album before taking the blues angle. Always loved that set, but sadly disagreements during rehearsals saw Cozy dropping out of the tour. Around the same time, Cozy also played on Don Airey’s K2 solo album.
