A member of the original Tower of Power horns, Pickett is a powerful force. Whether playing counter-melodies opposite the weighty B-3 ("This Tear's for You" and "You Are My Everything"), taking the solo which rolls the band into the rollicking "It's All the Same" or letting his horn weep and moan through the ballad "Communicate," Pickett's commanding sax style trills and thrills.

31 de mar. de 2024 · In 1998, Tony Z released his second record for Tone Cool, Kiss My Blues. The record featured another all-star cast including Cornell Dupree on guitar, Bernard "Pretty" Purdie on drums again, Chuck Rainey on bass, Lenny Pickett on sax and Kim Wilson blowing harp on two tracks.
Lenny Pickett is an autodidact. His early performing experience included playing in bars and on the street in Berkeley, California. He toured with the legendary r&b group Tower Of Power during the 1970’s and worked as a saxophonist and an arranger for David Bowie, The Talking Heads, Laurie Anderson, and many other recording artists in the 1980’s.
