15 de jul. de 2008 · James Cotton nació el 1º de Julio de 1935 en Tunica, Mississippi, una comunidad agrícola situada a unos 60 Km al sudoeste del principal centro urbano de la zona, Memphis en Tennesse. Siendo el pequeño de 8 hermanos, pronto trabajó en los campos de algodón junto a ellos, su madre Hattie y su padre, Mose, que era además predicador baptista.

When Little Walter bowed out to concentrate on a solo career, Waters replaced him with James Cotton. In the 1960s, as blues producers began to emphasize the use of horns, Waters experimented by substituting the usual harmonica for a clarinet to give songs like "Short Dress Woman" a New Orleans-style jazz sound.
