Tad Kinchla. Thaddeus Arwood "Tad" Kinchla (born February 21, 1973) is an American musician, who is the bassist for the jam band Blues Traveler . Early life. He was born in Princeton, New Jersey, Kinchla is the younger brother to long-time Blues Traveler guitarist Chan Kinchla.

Just because his brother Chan Kinchla was already the lead guitarist in Blues Traveler when the famous jam band went looking for a new bass player in 1999, didn’t mean Thaddeus “Tad” Kinchla was a shoe-in. Blues Traveler has released a new album called “Traveler’s Blues”, which is a collection of covers from the American Blues Songbook and other classics. Tad Kinchla holds it all together from the low end, providing deep grooves and funky lines.
The group comprises singer and harmonica player John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, drummer Brendan Hill, bassist Tad Kinchla, and keyboardist Ben Wilson. Tad Kinchla and Ben Wilson joined the band following the death of original bassist Bobby Sheehan in 1999.
