Thomas Lionel Hodgkin (3 April 1910 – 25 March 1982) was an English Marxist historian of Africa, who was described by The Times at his death of having done "more than anyone to establish the serious study of African history" in the UK.

Thomas Hodgkin RMS (17 August 1798 – 5 April 1866) was a British physician, considered one of the most prominent pathologists of his time and a pioneer in preventive medicine. He is now best known for the first account of Hodgkin's disease, a form of lymphoma and blood disease, in 1832.
Thomas Hodgkin was an exceptional and compassionate physician who first described the malignant lymphoma that bears his name. During his brief career at Guy's Hospital, he made other major contributions to clinical medicine and pathology.
