McVie was born Christine Anne Perfect on July 12, 1943, in Lancashire, England. Her father, Cyril, was a music professor at Birmingham University and a concert violinist who played with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra until he was in his eighties. Her mother, Beatrice, was a psychic, faith healer, and medium.
