"(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me" is a song written by American songwriting duo Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Originally recorded as a demo by Dionne Warwick in 1963, "(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me" first charted for Lou Johnson, whose version reached No. 49 on the Billboard Hot 100 in mid-1964.
The song was covered by the American rock group Burning Airlines on the 1998 "Always Something There to Remind Me / Back of Love" single, a split release with Braid who performed "Always Something There to Remind Me".
Burning Airlines fare better with Echo and the Bunnymen's "Back of Love," but while they retain a lot of the original's spirit they also smooth it over a bit. The vocals are robbed of their increasing urgency as the song progresses - one of the best things about the original - instead opting for a slightly more melodic variant of J. Robbins ...
