The original lineup formed from remnants of short-lived "punkadelic" band Black Juju, and consisted of guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Jerry Wick, bassist Eric Barth (who had also been in Two Hour Trip with the Spurgeon brothers, who would soon form Greenhorn), and drummer Jeff Regensburger (later of The Patsys).

It was pointed out to me by one of my readers that today marks the tenth anniversary of the death of Gaunt lead singer and focal point Jerry Wick. In a moment I'll address more specifically the music that I'm sharing today, but I thought I would first offer these thoughts.

Jerry Wick. Columbus, Ohio vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter born 10 April 1967 in Parma, Ohio best known as the leader of Gaunt (2) and its unreleased precursor band, Black Ju Ju. He was killed by a car in the early hours of 10 January 2001 in a hit-and-run accident while riding his bike home.
