Erik de Bruin (born 25 May 1963 in Hardinxveld-Giessendam, South Holland) is a retired Dutch discus thrower and shot putter. He held the Dutch national record in shot put from 1986 to 2005, and his 68.12 m discus throw record of 1 April 1991 still stands today.

Erik de Bruin (Hardinxveld, 25 mei 1963) is een Nederlands voormalig discuswerper en kogelstoter uit Hardinxveld-Giessendam. De Bruin won zowel een zilveren medaille op de Europese kampioenschappen in 1990 als op de wereldkampioenschappen in 1991.
Erik de Bruin fue un atleta neerlandés, especializado en la prueba de lanzamiento de disco en la que llegó a ser subcampeón mundial en 1991.
Biography. Talented in both the shot put and discus throw, Erik de Bruin competed in the final of both these events at the Los Angeles Olympics. Subsequently concentrating on the discus, de Bruin captured international medals at the 1990 European Championships (silver) and the 1991 World Championships (silver).
Erik de Bruin competed in the shot put and discus throw at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics, winning a silver medal in the latter. He also coached his wife Michelle Smith, a swimmer who won three Olympic titles, but was banned for doping.
