10 de abr. de 2011 · Qualifying as a student from Pasadena Junior College, Mack won the silver medal, finishing just behind the great Jesse Owens in the 200 meters at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. He returned to PJC to set then national junior college records in the 100 sprint (9.6 seconds), 220 (20.9) and broad jump (25 feet, 5.5 inches, a record broken the next year by Jackie).
In 1928, Pasadena High School and Pasadena Junior College merged into a four-year junior college with grades 11 to 14 inclusive. By 1946, increased enrollment justified the establishment of a second four-year junior college—John Muir. In 1947 the official names of the two schools became Pasadena City College and John Muir College.
