Launching a fresh chapter in the ever-evolving, Grammy nominated group’s career, their 2017 Trippin ‘N’ Rhythm debut Deep As The Night featured four Billboard charting singles, including the #1 “Lavish” and #2 “Deep as The Night” – the latter of which was Billboard Song of the Year for 2018.
Chieli Minucci started Special EFX in 1982 with George Jinda, a drummer from Hungary. The band combined rock, Latin rhythm, and smooth jazz. When the duo separated in 1995, Jinda continued to perform under the name Special EFX. After Jinda's death in 2001, Minucci performed under the name Chieli Minucci and Special EFX.

Guitarist, composer, producer, and arranger Chieli Minucci is longtime leader of the Grammy-nominated jazz-fusion group SPECIAL EFX featuring Chieli Minucci, a major force on the jazz and world music scene for almost 40 years. Chieli recently released his anniversary CD, “All Stars” (Trippin N Rhythm Records).
Chieli Minucci continues the project in memory of his former teammate with the 22nd Special EFX album Deep As The Night (2017), which will be released on the Trippin ‘N’ Rhythm record label.

Special EFX was originally founded by drummer and percussionist George Jinda and guitarist Chieli Minucci in 1982.
