The sea and seafaring seem to be important metaphors for Sally Beamish. Her catalogue lists a violin solo titled “The Lone Seafarer” and her second (of three) Viola Concertos is also entitled “Seafarer”. This Seafarer for voice and piano trio comes between those two works.
