Overview. The 2022 Olympic Winter Games saw Beijing, China became the first city to host both the Olympic Games and the Olympic Winter Games. Beijing was not known as a winter sports haven, but it was chosen as the 2022 host at the 128th IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in July 2015, narrowly defeating Almaty, Kazakhstan by four votes, 44-40.
The 2022 Winter Olympics, officially called the XXIV Olympic Winter Games and commonly known as Beijing 2022 (北京2022), were an international winter multi-sport event held from 4 to 20 February 2022 in Beijing, China, and surrounding areas with competition in selected events beginning 2 February 2022.
