Drummer John Lingwood was born on 18 February 1951 in Wembley, London, England. He began playing drums in the 1960s, being heavily influenced by The Beatles , The Rolling Stones , The Who , Cream, The Jimi Hendrix Experience , turning pro in 1968.

Biography. John began playing drums in the 60’s, being heavily influenced by The Beatles / Stones / Who / Cream / Hendrix, turning pro in 1968. During this time he played with a few bands, mainly in Europe, joining Steamhammer in 1972 who enjoyed some success in Germany.
The album marked the temporary return of guitarist and founding member Mick Rogers to the band. John Lingwood replaced drummer Geoff Britton, who left due to illness. It is also the last album that bassist Pat King appeared on.
John is a Fellow of Engineers Ireland and a Chartered Engineer. John served as Dean of the Engineering at NUI Maynooth from 2001 to 2006. He is currently the Director of the Centre for Ocean Energy Research at Maynooth University.
