Iain Bayne was born on 22 January 1960 in St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland, UK. He is an actor, known for Runrig: Protect and Survive (1988), Runrig - Party on the moor (2014) and Runrig: Live at Stirling Castle (1997).
The line-up during most of the 1980s and 1990s (the band's most successful period) also included Donnie Munro (vocals), Malcolm Jones (guitar), Iain Bayne (drums), and Pete Wishart (keyboards). Munro left the band in 1997 to pursue a career in politics and was replaced by Bruce Guthro .

Iain Bayne began playing drums at the age of 8 years old. Almost immediately he began taking lessons and drumming with a junior Scottish Pipe Band Corps on the east coast of Scotland - with whom he went on to win many medals and competitions.
