James Patrick Clench (May 1, 1949 – November 3, 2010) [3] was a Canadian bassist, vocalist and songwriter known for his roles in the rock bands April Wine and Bachman–Turner Overdrive. [4] [5] [6] [7] With April Wine (first run) Clench was asked to join April Wine after their original bassist Jim Henman decided to leave the band in October 1971.

Following the tour, Jim Clench left, eventually to join Bachman–Turner Overdrive (in 1977); he was replaced by Steve Lang. The band's next release, in 1976, was The Whole World's Goin' Crazy. It was the first April Wine release to hit platinum status based on advanced sales orders alone.
Jim Clench left the band in January of 2007. He was replaced by Breen LeBoeuf, a talented Bassist and Singer, and a longtime friend of Jerry and Brian. Breen brings the experience of his many years as a member of the legendary Quebec rock band “Offenbach” with him to April Wine.
