20 de mar. de 2020 · Jerry Slick was the drummer and co-founder of the Great Society, a pioneering acid rock band in the ’60s San Francisco scene. He also had a career as a cinematographer and documentary filmmaker, working with Steve Jobs and PBS.
Best known as the original group of model-turned-singer Grace Slick, the initial lineup of the band also featured her then-husband Jerry Slick on drums, his brother Darby Slick on guitar, David Miner on vocals and guitar, Bard DuPont on bass, and Peter van Gelder on flute, bass, and saxophone.
Jerry Slick was a musician and filmmaker who co-founded the Great Society band with his wife Grace Slick in 1965. He also played with the Final Solution and made a commercial for the San Francisco police.

She married Jerry Slick, the son of her mother’s best friend, in Grace Chapel in 1961 because that’s what well-bred girls did. The Slicks soon formed a band, The Great Society, with Jerry’s brother Darby, and Grace left the picture-perfect manicured lawns and nuclear family of her upbringing in her past.
