Two albums were released in 2006 by Lithops, the solo project of Mouse on Mars’ Jan St. Werner.

His relentless creativity expresses itself brilliantly across these fizz-bomb cuts, originally designed as installation pieces Ye Viols! definitely transcends the cold decor of the exhibition space.
Unlike some colleagues who founded new projects for every minute deviation from their daily routine, the Mouse on Mars moniker already incorporated a wide spectrum of expressiveness and a lucid detachment from concrete scenes and dogmatic styles. For Werner, it appeared, music did not need to aspire to a higher goal.

Lithops is the solo disguise of Jan St. Werner known for his work in Mouse on Mars, Microstoria and his most recent collaboration with Mark E Smith and Andi Toma as Von Sudenfed. With “YE VIOLS!”, Lithops presents a selection of installation soundtracks assembled from several recent exhibitions.
