En sus inicios, Windir era el proyecto de un único músico, Valfar. Éste había tocado en varias bandas de black y death metal, pero no encontró interesantes dichos proyectos y decidió fundar su banda para aportar su original visión musical. Así nace Windir.

17 de mar. de 2017 · Here, the original Windir sound is superseded by the trademark Finntroll retardation. Excessive keyboards and troll-imitation vocals, along with that dumb “folk jumping around” effect, all work together to make this a hell of a lot less intelligent than the original.
