Andy Metcalfe (born 3 March 1956, Bristol, England) is an English bassist, keyboardist, and producer, who played mainly with The Soft Boys (with Robyn Hitchcock, 1976–1979), Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians (1984–1994), and with Squeeze off and on during the period 1985–1994.
Biography. Andy was born in Bristol in 1956, was a chorister at Bristol Cathedral and played the piano. He studied music at Sussex University, where he began to move away from classical music into pop, bluegrass and jazz.
The Soft Boys formed in 1976 in Cambridge, England, initially calling themselves Dennis and the Experts. Their first lineup comprised Robyn Hitchcock on guitar, Rob Lamb (half-brother of radio host and author Charlie Gillett) on guitar, Andy Metcalfe on bass, and Morris Windsor on drums. [6]

30 de sept. de 2015 · Andy is a Professor of Trauma and Orthopaedics at Warwick Clinical Trials Unit and consultant orthopaedic surgeon at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire where he specialises in knee surgery, including sports injuries, knee arthritis and the patello-femoral joint.
