Fred F. Carter Jr. (December 31, 1933 – July 17, 2010) [1] was an American guitarist, singer, producer and composer. Early career. Carter was raised in the delta country in Winnsboro, the seat of Franklin Parish in northeastern Louisiana, United States. [2] . Carter grew up with the musical influences of jazz, country & western, hymns, and blues.

Born December 31, 1933 in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Died July 17, 2010. Father Deana Carter . President of Nugget Records (2) and owner of Nugget Studios . Carter landed a gig on the Louisiana Hayride during the 1950s, and cut a few rockabilly-oriented singles before joining Roy Orbison's band.
Fred Carter Jr. began his career in northeastern Louisiana playing rock & roll. He backed Dale Hawkins, known for his rock hit “Susie-Q,” and later played with Ronnie Hawkins, Dale’s cousin, in his backing group, the Hawks. Carter left and was replaced by Robbie Robertson before the group evolved into the Band.
