He recruited new members Charles Hardy and Harsey Hemphill, who in October 1990 had auditioned for Bivins but didn't come aboard until after Lovett and Kelly left at the end of 1990. In early 1991 Bivins added Alvin Pazant, bringing the group back to a quintet.
Harsey is the cousin of the late Shirley Hemphill of (What’s Happening fame) he has a very out going personality, he loves to be around people the more the better. Harsey has one of the sweetest 1st Tenors in the business though it hasn’t been heard on lead songs as of yet.

The Manhattans latest incarnation features Sonny Bivins, Lee Williams, Alvin Pazant, Harsey Hemphill, and Charles Hardy. They released 'One Life To Live' in 1994, and in 1996, they began recording under their own label, Manhattans Entertainment Inc.
