When fully “in”, the line provides continuous snow from the top of the mountain all the way down to 11,200ft or so. The Angel of Shavano gets its name from a view of the snow line in the distance, when melted out, that resembles an angel.

  5. Route Description. The Angel of Shavano route is 7.9 miles roundtrip with 4,430 feet of elevation gain. From the trailhead, follow the Colorado Trail north for 5-10 minutes until the intersection with the Angel of Shavano Trail. There is a sign here indicating the way to Shavano and Tabeguache.

  7. 13 de sept. de 2017 · Snow wasn't deep on the day I hiked, but was just a generally long day at over 5k of gain since I started at Angel of Shavano which added 500ft to the route plus 4mi round trip. 3/5 wouldn't recommend this route especially during winter.
