Mother Gong es un grupo de rock psicodélico y rock progresivo formado en Francia en 1978, desprendimiento del entonces disuelto Gong . La banda fue formada por exmiembros de Gong como Gilli Smyth y Didier Malherbe; el exmiembro de Hawkwind, Nik Turner y el fundador de Gong Daevid Allen también han participado de este proyecto eventualmente.
Profile: Mother Gong was an offshot band of Gong, first imagined by Gilli Smyth in 1978 to promote her album Mother. In 1979, Gilli Smyth met Harry Williamson, and Mother Gong became the vehicle for musical projects together, with several distinct line-ups of musicians over the next 15 years.
Mother Gong biography. Active between 1979 and 1994 - Reunited in 2005/2006. Mother Gong is a spin-off of GONG (no surprise regarding the name), founded by Gilli Smyth and Hari Williamson. They produced a couple of excellent albums, most notably the outstanding "Fairy Tales", the "Robot Woman" trilogy (at least the first 2 parts) and "Wild Child".
