Ann Bassett was born in Brown's Hole, Colorado, in 1878 and became involved with Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch. She was a cattle rustler, a lover of outlaws, and a target of Tom Horn, who killed her father and husband.

It states that Anne of Cleves had passed through Calais where Lady Lisle was to greet her. It is around this time (1538-1539) that Anne Bassett is first rumored as a mistress to King Henry VIII.
