Morton Subotnick (born April 14, 1933) is an American composer of electronic music, best known for his 1967 composition Silver Apples of the Moon, the first electronic work commissioned by a record company, Nonesuch.

Morton Subotnick is a pioneer and innovator in electronic music, known for his works such as Silver Apples of the Moon and Ascent Into Air. He has also composed for orchestra, chamber ensembles, theater and multimedia, and taught at NYU Steinhardt.
