Hong Il-chon (Korean: 홍일천; born 1942) was the first wife of Kim Jong Il. She was the daughter of a soldier who died during the Korean War . In the early 1960s, Kim Il Sung , father of Kim Jong Il, introduced her to his son and handpicked her to marry him in 1966.
Hong Il-ch’o’n (Hong Il Chon) Hong Il-ch’o’n is a rector and immediate past president of Kim Hyo’ng-chik (Kim Kyong Jik) University of Education. She is also Kim Jong Il’s (Kim Cho’ng-il) first wife and mother of his eldest child, daughter Kim Hye-kyo’ng. Hong was born in 1942.
