En 1975, publicó el disco High On You, bajo el nombre de Sly Stone, mientras que en el siguiente trabajo, Heard You Missed Me, Well I’m Back (1976) volvió a recuperar el nombre del grupo, Sly & The Family Stone, si bien se trataba de un hecho meramente nominal dado que, en la práctica, Sly seguía tocando todos los instrumentos.
