Maceo Parker (/ ˈ m eɪ s i oʊ /; born February 14, 1943) is an American funk and soul jazz saxophonist, best known for his work with James Brown in the 1960s, Parliament-Funkadelic in the 1970s and Prince in the 2000s.
The Payback is considered a high point in Brown's recording career, and is now regarded by critics as a landmark funk album. Its revenge -themed title track, a #1 R&B hit, is one of his most famous songs and an especially prolific source of samples for record producers.
1 de dic. de 2023 · The Payback is a groove heavy exercise that highlights the best arrangements the Godfather’s band ever released. Much of the album’s distinct sound is owed to the horn section, including trombonist/bandleader/orchestrator Fred Wesley and saxophonist Maceo Parker, the latter of whom had returned to the JBs’ fold earlier in the year.
