Point Blank (band) Point Blank was an American rock band hailing from Irving, Texas, United States. The band formed in 1974 in Irving, Texas, and recorded six albums between 1974 and 1982. [1] Garnering occasional airplay on AOR radio stations, the band is best known for their only hit single, "Nicole", from 1981. Point Blank broke up in 1983.

Founding member, Buzzy Gruen, remembers this period in the group's history well. Drummer Gruen was one of only two POINT BLANK members who had remained 100% loyal to the organization from the first, to the very last, album recorded and from the first, to the very last, show played.

Point Blank rose from the ashes of local Dallas/Forth Worth area band Southpaw and was officially formed in 1974 by guitarists Rusty Burns and Kim Davis, lead singer John O’Daniel, drummer Buzzy Gruen and bassist Phillip Petty.
