Robert Chisolm, influenced by the attack on Pearl Harbor, volunteered for WWII as a seventeen-year-old in 1942. He was trained as a paratrooper and joined the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82 nd Airborne Division, to participate in D-Day, Operation Market Garden, and the Battle of the Bulge.
