Biography. Egan and Rafferty met as teenagers in Paisley, and became the core of Stealers Wheel. They were initially joined by Roger Brown, Rab Noakes and Iain Campbell in 1972. By the time the band was signed to A&M Records later that year, Brown, Noakes and Campbell had been replaced by Paul Pilnick, Tony Williams and Rod Coombes. [2]
2 de oct. de 2021 · Tributes have poured in for Liverpool musician Paul Pilnick who enjoyed success with famous band Stealers Wheel. Paul, who grew up in Granby, died on September 17 aged 80 after a short illness.
Paul Pilnick was the lead guitarist of the Scottish-Irish folk-rock band Stealers Wheel from 1972 to 1975. He played on their albums Stealers Wheel, Ferguslie Park, and Right or Wrong, and co-wrote the hit song "Stuck in the Middle With You".
The many philosophical and existential themes explored in Egan and Rafferty’s songwriting remain relevant to this day. Rod Coombes, Paul Pilnick, and Tony Williams reunited to revive Stealers Wheel in the early 2000s and are still making music as Stealers Wheel as of 2021.

Cuando ficharon por la A&M, los tres últimos fueron sustituidos por Paul Pilnick, Tony Williams (nacido el 19 de agosto de 1947 en Durham, Inglaterra) y Rod Coombes (nacido el 15 de mayo de 1946 en Londres). Rafferty ya había grabado un disco previo en solitario titulado “Can I Have My Money Back?” (1971).
