A third FAME rhythm section was formed consisting of Freeman Brown (drums), Jesse Boyce (bass), Junior Lowe (guitar), Clayton Ivey (keyboard) and a 4 man brass section. They were a blend of African American and white, and sometimes they were called FAME Gang.

Wishbone Recording Studio was founded by Terry Woodford and Clayton Ivey, a former FAME keyboard player, in 1972. It produced hits for artists like Hank Williams Jr., Mac McAnally, and Roy Orbison, and became a hub for songwriters in the Shoals area.
