Hace 2 días · ORTIG, Washington — The snowcapped peak of Mount Rainier, which towers 2.7 miles above sea level in Washington state, has not produced a significant volcanic eruption in the past 1,000 years ...
Hace 5 días · The Axial Seamount is a shield volcano — like you’d find in Hawaii or Iceland — meaning it doesn’t blow its top when it erupts. Instead the magma below causes it to crack open on its slopes...
Hace 2 días · Recent Eruption Information: Kīlauea erupted briefly on June 3, 2024, southwest of Kaluapele (Kīlauea caldera) within a closed area of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Hace 4 días · No changes have been detected in ground deformation, volcanic gas, or thermal emissions at the volcano. Small earthquakes consistent with background-level activity were also detected at Mount Baker, Mount Rainier, and Mount Hood.
Hace 1 día · Between May 13 and May 22, 2024, Rubins and Douglas trudged through northern Arizona’s San Francisco Volcanic Field, a geologically Moon-like destination shaped by millions of years of volcanic eruptions. There, they made observations of the soil and rocks around them and collected samples.
Hace 23 horas · While it settles, UWE tilt data will remain qualitatively useful, providing indications of short-term volcanic processes, such as magma ascent at the onset of an eruption or intrusion. The offset will eventually be corrected with manual adjustments to better align the new data to old trends, providing a better, long-term representation of tilt deformation.
