Melanie wanted to use this album as an opportunity to not only tell Crybaby’s story, but also relate to listeners who may have experienced similar struggles in their growing up years.
Her first piece of solo work was “The Dollhouse EP.” You can give that a listen. Then she released her first album, “Crybaby.” Melanie does concept albums, so you’ll notice themes throughout her albums. Crybaby is a character. It’s semi based on Melanie’s personality, but the things she sings about are not necessarily her experiences.
