I wonder if the people who ask "why get married" aren't old enough to remember this. At least in the US, gay marriage wasn't legal in all states until 2015. There might be teens today who have no recollection of what the hell same-sex couples went through before this. I remember seeing the sad stories of X being with Y for 20+ years.
