I am currently an Associate Professor of Atmospheric Science at MIT, in the department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences (EAPS). My group combines theory and idealized numerical modeling experiments to understand the dynamics of Earth's atmosphere and the stability of the climate system.
My research group studies convection, radiation, and clouds. We combine theory and idealized numerical modeling experiments to understand the stability of Earth's climate, and explore possible climates of other worlds. A (non-exhaustive) list of my research interests is below.

Monster Magnet is an American rock band, founded in Red Bank, New Jersey in 1989 by Dave Wyndorf (vocals and guitar), John McBain (guitar) and Tim Cronin (vocals and drums). The band has since gone through several lineup changes, leaving Wyndorf as the only constant member.

Tim Cronin is a climate scientist interested in the interactions between clouds, sea ice, and severe storms in a warmer Arctic. Tim earned a BA in physics from Swarthmore College in 2006, and received a PhD in climate physics and chemistry from MIT in June 2014.
Climate scientist focused on regional-scale atmospheric dynamics and surface-atmosphere interactions to understand climate sensitivity. As a climate scientist, Cronin’s research focuses on convection, radiation, and clouds to create numerical modeling experiments that help us understand the stability of the Earth’s climate.
