The band consists of guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López and vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala, who also serve as the writers and composers of the song.
For the Mars Volta’s 2003 second album Deloused in the Comatorium, Flea from the RHCP was featured on nine of the songs and John Frusciante also contributed to a track. The album sold more than 500,000 copies and received a gold certification. In 2005, the band released their second album Frances the Mute.
