(Mike Hollingshead/Getty Images) In a harrowing incident on a beach in Isabela, Puerto Rico, three children were struck by lightning amid inclement weather conditions. The children, aged between 7 and 12, were enjoying a day at the beach when the tragedy occurred.
Lightning likes to strike rails on train stations, as they are grounded. An upright standing human is not a good connection to ground. However, if there is nothing better around (like here), 1.60m of highly conductive flesh plus only a centimeter or so of isolating rubber/skin probably does the trick, especially if the latter are soaking wet.
