In the 1920s the Seminary was moved to the present Trinity campus and given a large measure of autonomy within the University. In 1959, the Seminary was separated from Capital, becoming an independent institution of The American Lutheran Church.

He is a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn. Fr. Cush holds the Doctorate in Sacred Theology (STD) from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, Italy.
