All I know is that crocodile is the more dominant one as it’s got Crocodile Dundee, Crocodile Rock, crocodile tears and Crocs. Whereas all an alligator has is ‘see you later alligator’ and the crocodile gatecrashes that with ‘in a while crocodile.’.
