Hace 3 días · Peterhouse. Peterhouse is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge. It is the oldest college of the University, having been founded in 1284 by Hugo de Balsham, Bishop of Ely. The modern name of Peterhouse does not include the word "college". Grade I listed. Link

Hace 5 días · T. A. Walker, a former fellow of Peterhouse, vicar 1908-17, was a historian and an international lawyer. After the First World War the living ceased to be held by fellows of the College. (fn. 35) L. G. Forrest, who served as vicar between 1948 and 1966, was involved in the creation of new parishes of St. Martin's and St. James's on the borders of the ancient parish of Cherry Hinton.

In 1066 Hinton was held by Eddeva the fair, reputedly the mistress of King Harold II, but by 1086 had been given with her lands to Count Alan, lord of Richmond. (fn. 1) Thereafter part of the honor of Richmond, it passed on Alan's death in 1089 in succession to his brothers. The youngest, Stephen, inherited in 1093.

Gemma Betros completed a Bachelor of Arts in French and History (First-Class Honours) at the University of Queensland, and an M.Phil and PhD in History at the University of Cambridge (Peterhouse). Funding included a Commonwealth Scholarship, a Peterhouse Research Studentship, and a Lightfoot Scholarship.
