Hace 3 días · With just over an hour of racing left, four Europeans in Sebastian Schönberger, Mattia De Marchi, Piotr Havik, Simen Nordahl Svendsen and American Peter Stetina escaped from the main chase group, closing the gap to the leaders to under a minute. Stetina would be first to fall off this chase group, but eventually all five were absorbed by the main chase group within 20 miles to go.

Toen Lance Armstrong op het punt stond zijn 7e Tour te winnen, versloeg Stetina zijn concurrent Tejay Van Garderen op weg naar de Amerikaanse titel bij de junioren. 2 jaar later zat hij al bij Team Slipstream, de ploeg die later Garmin zou heten en vandaag door het leven gaat als EF Education – EasyPost.
